Convert flac to mp3 mediamonkey3/15/2024 Your experience has been different following similar steps?īTW, I didn't mean to direct my frustration at you personally. But when inserting the MP3 files into the library, they all display as 5 stars given the value ranges in the Rating tag. When I used MM to transcode these files to MP3, the metadata did indeed transfer with no loss. Looking at the files, the rating was entered in the tag as 80 for 4 stars, 90 for 4.5 stars, etc. When I rated my FLAC tracks in MM, all was fine. If you could point me in the right direction for official support, I'd appreciate it.īut I'd also like to ask, do you use the Rating tag in your FLAC and MP3 files? The only thing I haven't tried so far is ripping to FLAC using MM, but I have trouble believing the software used to create the FLAC file could affect this. The nature of the forum topics made me believe the developers were involved. Btw: the forum is not the place for official support and response from the devs.Īlright, fair enough. I'm still not even clear what programs you're doing the conversion with, and which programs have tagged the original files. Nohitter151 wrote:I don't know what to tell you, I can make conversions from FLAC (tagged with MM) to mp3 with no loss of metadata. So all of my 1-5 ratings got interpreted in the bomb range when using the FLAC files in MM.Īm I missing something? How can I make this work? So these are the tags that I added to the FLAC files and confirmed that they were created in the MP3 files (as ID3v2.3(UTF16) tags).Īlso, for the Rating tag in the FLAC files MM writes a 80 for 4 stars, but expects a 4 in the Rating for MP3s. Playing around with MM, I saw that when I created the Mood and Occasion entries on the Classification tab, MM added a MusicMatch_Mood tag for the Mood and two identical tags for the Occasion (MusicMatch_Situation and Songs-DB_Occasion). And if I add the original FLACs, the Rating shows up as a bomb for all tracks in addition to not recognizing the Mood and Occasion tags. If I add the resulting MP3s into the MM library, everything but the Mood and Occasion tags show up just fine. I'm looking to rip all of my CDs to lossless files (FLAC), tag the FLAC files with the usual info plus Rating / Mood / Occasion, and transcode those files to MP3 for playback on my computer and transfer to mobile players.
